National Cyber League (NCL) Competition #

The NCL is a nationwide cybersecurity competition where students like YOU get hands-on experience solving real-world security challengesā€”like hacking passwords, analyzing network traffic, and even cracking cryptography puzzles. Whether you’re a total beginner or a cyber pro, thereā€™s a challenge for everyone!

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 2025

ORIENTATION (will have more information): Mar 20th 1pm-2pm @ MBA 208

Individual Competition: April 11-13, 2025

Team Competition: April 25-27, 2025

ScaleUpv4 #

Date & Time: Friday, November 22, 2024 from 9:30AM-2:30PM

Location: El Camino College’s East Dining Hall (16007 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance CA)

Open to both high school and college students, ScaleUpv4 is a cybersecurity conference filled with workshops, keynotes by guest speakers, and more! Lunch is provided and no previous experience is necessary.

AWS Deep Racer competition (November 15th) #

Date & Time: Friday, November 15th, 2024 from 12-4PM

Computing Club and Robotics Club are hosting an AWS Deep Racer event. This is a beginner friendly competition that introduces machine learning and reinforcement learning concepts, which are prominent in many generative AI applications today. You’ll have the opportunity to see your ML model training come to life by racing an RC car on a miniature race track.

NOTE: You must attend the training day on Tuesday, November 12 from 12-2 pm at MBA 115 to learn how to train a model to prepare for the competition!

Food and drinks will be provided at both the training day on Tuesday and the competition on Friday!! If you volunteer, you get more food and drinks!!

Remember you must have two models trained and ready for the competition on Friday!!

Hack SC (USC Hackathon) #

Club members will be attending Hack SC to create projects with other participants. Hackathons are great for portfolio building and look great on resumes. Previous experience not required and completely beginner friendly!

GDSC Collaboration #

Date & Time: Thursday, October 31st, 1:15-2:15pm, MBA 209

The Computing Club is collaborating with the GDSC (Google Developers Student Club) for a joint halloween šŸŽƒ meeting!

The agenda will include:

  • Useful guidelines for scouting potential employers
  • Introduction to the STAR & UMPIRE methods for interview success
  • In-person Behavioral & technical interview practice

Date & Time: October 12-13th @ Santa Monica

Club members will be attending Cerebral Beach Hacks to hack on code related to AI. Hackathon and AI experience not required.
